The encounter itself doesn't strike me as anything unique, but the support that rushed hot on the heels of the post surprised me. In two days readers of the blog had figured out the owner of the vehicle, where he works, where he lives, and his email address. One of the readers even contacted him, and he responded. Although readers were angered by the incident, the nature of their responses remained calm and reasoned. Invoking the massacre at Tiananmen Square and Rosa Parks was grossly inappropriate, but that's my only criticism. It will be interesting to see how this continues to develop.
The power of community is undeniable when people are compassionate and seriously committed.
