I saw on Cyclingnews.com this morning that the BBC Radio 4 had done a survey naming the bicycle as the greatest invention since 1800 and I hunted up the results. If you have time go to the website and read the nominations, some of them are great. I took the time to cut and paste all the bike related and funny ones over here but the post was too long and was not allowed. Made me sad, but this is not about me, its about the BICYCLE! The Triumph of Technology To coincide with this year's Reith Lectures, entitled the Triumph of Technology, BBC Radio 4's You and Yours Show asked what has been the most significant technological innovation since 1800. From the hundreds of listeners' nominations and together with our five experts, voting was opened on 10 of the nominees. Here are the results... 59.4% - Bicycle 7.8% - Transistor 7.8% - Electro-magnetic induction ring 6.3% - Computer 4.6% - Germ theory of infection 4.5% - Radio 4.0% - Internet 3.4% - Internal Combustion Engine 1.1% - Nuclear Power 1.1% - Communications satellite www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/youandyours/technology_launch.shtml

Photography as a fad is well-nigh on its last legs, thanks principally to the bicycle craze.
