1 1 Section 1. Section 6A.21, subsection 1, paragraph b, Code 1 2 2005, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 b. "Private development purposes" means the construction 1 4 of, or improvement related to, recreational trails, 1 5 recreational development paid for primarily with private 1 6 funds, housing and residential development, or commercial or 1 7 industrial enterprise development. 1 8 EXPLANATION 1 9 Current law provides that agricultural land cannot be 1 10 condemned for private development purposes, which includes 1 11 recreational trails. This bill removes recreational trails 1 12 from the definition of "private development purposes". 1 13 LSB 1913SS 81 1 14 sc/cf/24

The Wednesday Des Moines Register has on it's opinion page 12 bills that they consider key to improving government process and quality of life in Iowa, Senate File 44 is one of the ten they say should get passed. Write your Senator.
