"BIKE-IN THEATER" Free summer outdoor film/video series
Beginning Wednesday, June 8th at Sundown
@ Public Access Television, 206 Lafayette Street, Iowa City IA
Admission is Free!
Announcing "Bike-in Theater," a new bi-monthly, outdoor film and video
screening series hosted by PATV, Public Access Television in Iowa City.
Bicyclists from all over Iowa City are invited to cruise down to PATV at
206 Lafayette St. (the corner of South Dubuque and Lafayette St.) on
Wednesday, June 8th at sundown for an evening of adventurous, independent
film and video.
The kick-off screening will feature "We Are Traffic" an independent
documentary tracing the birth and evolution of the Critical Mass bike
movement. We’ll also christen our parking lot theater with the classic
short documentary "Heavy Metal Parking Lot," a haunting and hilarious
look at tailgating rockers at a pre-Judas Priest concert parking lot
circa 1986. I would rate this screening as PG-13, containing some Heavy
Metal language.
Walkers and car riders are welcome too! Bring your folding chair if you
can, seating is limited. Parking available on the street or at the
Johnson County Administrative Building.
In the following weeks we’ll screen selections from AV Geeks (an archive
of bizarre educational films from America‘s yesteryear based in North
Carolina), the documentary Okie Noodlin’ (about the ancient redneck art
of hand-fishing for catfish), a Culture Jamming Video Shorts Program
presented by Iowa City Microcinema, a program of found videos presented
by Found Magazine, and a back to school program featuring the hilarious
After School Specials Stoned with Scott Baio, Teenage Father with Rob
Lowe and Dana Plato, and One Too Many with Val Kilmer and Michelle
Pfeifer.
Hope to see you there!
