Found this on the bike portland web site. "This is a very cool thing. Imagine a four-way, signalled intersection full of cars. A bike (or bikes) pull up on the side walk over the painted bike symbol. Suddenly all the lights turn red, except the little green "bike signal" and you're free to go...while the cars have to wait! I love this signal."

Would you believe the topic came up at the the Regional Bike and Trails Committee meeting for JCCOG. The long range multi-modal plan has a bike section. It was dominated by trails and sidewalks.
I mentioned the absence of on-street bike facilities in the plan. The discussion quickly revolved around bike access at signals. I hope there is more information to share soon.
