This is weird. Years ago I was living, riding and working in Vermont, USA and I had the displeasure of working with a cycling know-it-all who remarked many times how cool it was that I would ride to work (I digress, but I must expound as I have had 3 beers this night, apologies... The commutes were some of the best of my life. I did not ride every day as I was a serious cat II racer at that point and well aware that my rest was just as important as my training but I did ride often. The houses we were painting were for the rich and thus in the mountains. My commutes by bicycle would generally lead me deep into the Vermont mountains and over some Gnarly <cap that G, yo> mud roads. It rocked even if my time away from home bordered on 11 hours a day) and how much he LOVED riding to work even though he never did even when we worked in town. He had an awfully nice roof rack on his car that was for sure! So this feller (as we called them in Vermont, USA) told me all about his cycling exploits and how he LOVED to ride tubulers, "just becausa they way they ride, you know, just better!", and how he used to hang out with Bob Roll. About now I know you are wondering what the point is. Well, he told me that the B O B Trailer Corporation, Inc was STARTED by Bob Roll and that he launched it at Interbike (before it got all polluted with fellers (as you will remember we called them in Vermont, USA) like Bob Roll of the 2006 variety) by giving a demonstration of a B O B trailer with a lawnmower attachment and mowing the grass in front of the hotel.
Who knows, maybe that feller actually knew something? Or maybe its just that history does rhyme....
